On October 13 and 14, 2020, Dr. Ara Melikyan, the Trade Representative of Russia in the UAE, had a conference call with Ayman Gafri, Assistant of the Director General of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) and then took part in a conference call with Mohammed Hammadi, ENEC General Director, together with Mr. Sergey Kuznetsov, Ambassador of Russia to the UAE. The discussion was focused on a potential demand for services of JSC NPO CKTI (St. Petersburg) in diagnostics, maintenance and design of power-generating machinery as well as products of Energomashkomplekt from ENEC specifically and in the UAE Energy sector in general.
The Representatives of ENEC pointed out that the manufacturers needed to be registred/accredited, and the products themselves were subject to certification. In this regard, the Trade Representative promoted an idea of establishing the "Russian Center for Technical Competencies" associated with ENEC or Abu Dhabi Investment company ADQ. It would allow the most advanced Russian industrial companies to jointly form a temporary consortium to take part in tenders, thus cutting costs of separate registration/accreditation in the UAE.
